My friends over at Virtual Hideout have reviewed yet another cool PC case which you can find right here.
A few years back I bought an acrylic tower case by Sunbeam for my daughters PC that I was building. It was a bit of a choir to put together, but it was pretty damn cool once it was done. The new cube version looks like they have made some improvements in the build processes as well as still include the Micky Mouse gloves so you don't get your grubby paw prints all over the panels.

So you're an early adopter with a slightly underpowered machine or you just want things to go even faster on your uber rig. Vista is new and intimidating and some things arn't in their normal places and you just arn't sure what some of these other things are. Have no fear.
The nice folks over at ExtremeTech have toiled over Vista and found several ways to trim the fat and boost performance. Some are old ways turned new and some are new stuff you didn't know you had. If you're itching to start trimming, just take this link.

Let's face it, CRT monitors are one their way out and the LCD's are flooding in. In the last year we've seen the size of them shoot from 17"-19" strait to 30". Dell generally seems to be the leader when it comes to large LCD monitors. They delivered their 30" to markets last year. However, there just hasn't been anything in the middle untill recently. Dell is been filling it's own gap. 20" monitors came out shortly before the 30" colosas, then came the 24". But that just wasn't enough.
Now Dell is filling their own gap again with a 27" monitor and AnandTech got their hands on one. Check out what they think of it right here.
Man, and I thought I was doing good with my recent purchase of a 22". Sheesh.
An yes, Honking " IS" a technical term!

Any blogger who tells you that they don't like links, attention or being famous for 15 minutes is either a lousy liar, or delusional. Or a Troll. Or a member of the AP posing as a blogger.
We love to see that itty bitty web counter scroll like mad because someone loves what we do.
And Harvey is neither any different, and unlike myself and others, is much more deserving.
Congratulations dude!

Ars snagged a copy of the long awaited Google Desktop Beta and did a nice little write-up.
Now I'm not a Mac guy by any means so I can't test this thing out myself. For now it's still a Beta, but hop on over to Ars and see what they have to say about it.

Seems like everyone is taking their shots at MS these days. Though lately it's been the EU thats been kicking MS's ass down the street. Sure I take my pot-shots, but hey, don't we all?
However, this time it seems that MS pulled an old trick, the ole' Bait & Switch. We've all been seeing PC's since late last year taughting Vista compatibility. An we've all been seeing what Vista Ultimate can do with it's Aero interfact and multimedia application bonanza. Problem is, many of those "Vista Compatible" PC's being sold before Vista's full release will only work with the stripped down version of Vista called Vista Home Basic. V.H.B does not containe the Aero interface or all those lovely multimedia applications. It's basicly Windows XP home with the ultra annoying security system added. For a few more details, check out the article over at Slashdot.
I'm actually a tad torn on this. By this day and age, everyone should know that "compatible" no longer means it will do everything you see on the commecial. The courts have cleared companies and private sellers a few times. Personally, I think it's crap. So it should be interesting to see what happens as per the Slashdot article, there is now a suit being filed for deceptive practices by MS. Whats your take? Should MS take it in the rear for using a vauge term to their advantage, or should consumers take some of the responcibility and done more research? Is the latter even really possible with so much hype and confusion over the 4 different versions of Vista? Tell us what you think.

It looks like GameStop and EB Games are chopping prices on the now 2 year old PSP core pack according to this article over at Ars.
The price cut is going to drop the core pack from $199 to $169 which might just put it in the range that more folks are willing to shell out. It also put the pricing more in line with it's competition, the Nintendo DS. So it could be an attempt to gain some more market share, or it could also be due to the fact that Sony has a redesigned PSP waiting in the wings and just wants to unload the remianing stock of the current model.
Either way, it should make folks happy. Personally, I like the PSP better than the DS, but I haven't spent tons of time with either. The DS is a tad small for my meat-paw hands and I only borrow my wifes PSP on rare occasion.

No it wasn't an April Fools Joke. Sunday, MS actually let it be known that there was a security hole in the code for the mouse cursor in it's Windows line of OS's. Today, they are releasing the patch for it. Sounds pretty quick right? Wrong. MS knew about the exploit at least as far back as December 06' but didn't do anything untill the flaw started being exploited on grand scale last week.
Want to know more? Check out this article or this one. Both are located over at Ars.

While I was at work, UPS struck my house and left my new toy. So now that it's here and am currently basking in it's warm glow, I'll spill the beans.
I got lucky and in my search for a new 19" LCD to replace my failing 17" CRT I happend acrossed a nice 22" LCD. It had all my requirements ( wide screen format, 5ms responce rate, DVI input and 1000:1 contrast ratio ) and to boot, it was on sale. The item in question is the Megavision MV22. Tiger Direct was my savior. Normally going for $299, they had a $60 rebate to tack on to it making it cheaper then the 19" monitors I was looking at. An while I hadn't really heard of Megavision, I had seen some of it's monitors at various retailers and I had been impressed with the sharpness and clarity the brand had. A few trips to some review sites and I figured I might as well give it a go. I'm glad I did. The shear size of this monitor is taking some getting used to, but I think I'll manage just fine. For now I will present a stock photo. I will do a review where I will post actual photo's.
So for the time being, here is the new heart of the Techography command center.

A While back we ran a series called The Weekly Web Focus
I stopped running it mostly due to laziness but partly due to lack of submissions.
It's not like I can't go looking for web site's, so it really is laziness.
So if you'll please take the time to click the poll on the right hand side, and give us your input.
P_G_S and I are trying to come up with some series based stuff, and we'd like to focus on some subjects, you the reader may be interested in.
Calimus is always interested in technical software and hardware you might be interested in, and I can do the same thing if your thinking about something for your computer, car or home. P_G_S is a monetary wiz and we all take swings at military and political stuff.
Instead of just we reporting on things we like, we want to do something for you guys.
So vote in the poll, comment your suggestions and give us your input. We're here for you!
