Extend your Ipod's battery life on the Cheap
So I'm waiting for my wife to get ready so we can go meet up with someone that wants to buy a few parts from our wrecked VW cabby this morning. I figured I'd do some searches about Ipod battery issues since it's such a hot topic right now. What I found was a great hack done very cheap. Through a few google searches I tured up a site by a guy named Drew Perry that has built a small external batter pack to help Extend the Ipods playing time. The hack consists of 2 AA batters and 2 9v batters with a fire wire adapter all contained in an empty playing card box. Not the best thing for normal human portability, but definitly great for car trips or if you have an extra pocket in your jacket/vest.
The site can be found here with color pictures and pretty good explinations of the process. It's really a quick hack and doesn't look like it would take more then 30min to an hour to complete once you have all the parts handy.
So, if you have an Ipod, like ot use it, but hate the short batter life and 8-10 hours of charging, this hack is for you. Go take a look, make your own and if you modify it, please tell us and maybe send us some pictures that we can share.
Now if we can just find a cure for the battery croaking after about 18 months, we'd really be in business.
